The Tower of London Poppies

To mark the centenary of  WW1 (World War 1) in 2014, there were 888,246 handmade poppies  placed in around the Tower of London.  In 2014 artists Paul Cummins and Tom Piper along with the charity ‘Historical Royal Places’ had a vision to fill the moat with poppies; each one representing a British and Colonial soldier who died during First world War.

How were the Poppies made? 

In 2014 it took 21,688 volunteers to install the 888,246 poppies around the Tower of London.  Watch the video to find out how the poppies were made and who made them.
